The power of the sun is overwhelming. It cannot be overstated that in our solar system, the sun creates life, and all living things on planet Earth are dependent on the energy of the sun. In just one second, the sun produces 650,000 times as much energy as our planet Earth uses in one 365 day year! Inside the sun, hydrogen atoms are forced together. They fuse and become helium atoms which in turn emits massive amounts of energy.
As humans we go out in the sun and enjoy its warmth and light. As surfers, water boarders and other outdoor athletes, we must be vigilant to the ultraviolet rays emitting from the sun. A good start is to wear a hat and cover ourselves with clothing that is rated to protect against UV.
We at Don’t Fear The Curl, have designed our tops to protect the user from the harmful rays of the sun. Our rash guards have a UPF 50+ rating and our fantastic, dreamy hoodies are rated at UPF 40+. Whenever possible, we strive to use materials that will protect your skin while keeping you safer from UV exposure while you do the sports that you love.
A waterproof sun block is also advised on exposed skin such as your face, neck, hands, feet and any other part of your arms and legs in addition to wearing a Don’t Fear The Curl rash guard or hoodie.
So stay safe, cover up and use caution and common sense when spending time outdoors and on the water. We want everyone to be safe and enjoy that wave on a surfboard or moment of calm on a paddle board as that great white shark passes beneath you to check out your beautiful colors. Peace everyone. Don’t Fear The Curl.
